Our CRC also extensively support a variety of initiatives for public outreach:
Discover MAMI
A successful program of guided tours at MAMI has been offered for many years. It attracts around 1,000 visitors per year.
Saturday Physics for Students
A physics lecture program on Saturday (Physik am Samstag), aimed at high-school students, has been offered by physics institutes on campus for more than two decades.
Mainz Science Fair
A science fair (Wissenschaftsmarkt) is successfully held every September in the city of Mainz.
Hands-On Physics
Around 40 practical trainings (Schülerpraktikum) per year are offered for high-school students.
Mainz Academy in Particle Physics
For the most interested and motivated high-school students, an annual Mainz Academy in Particle Physics (Mainzer Teilchenphysikakademie) is offered, in which the students actively carry out an experiment at MAMI.
"Physik im Theater"
A popular lecture series titled “Physik im Theater” has been offered by MITP for the last ten years. Topics from the field of hadron and particle physics are presented to the general public at the State Theater of Mainz.
KONTAKT Network
As a consequence of this diverse program, Mainz was selected by the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) as one of three hubs of the KONTAKT Network (also known as Netzwerk Teilchenwelt) for outreach programs in nuclear and hadron physics.
